In this Communication the Commission takes the 2006 paper Towards an EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child further. Two new initiatives are introduced in EU’s long-term strategy on children: an EU Action Plan on Children's Rights in External Action and a Strategy on Children in Emergency and Crisis Situations.
Four main priority areas for actionat regional and global level are identified: child labour; child trafficking; violence against children including sexual violence and; children affected by armed conflicts
