The European Commission’s proposals for a reform of the information and promotion of European agricultural products aim at strengthening the competitiveness of European agriculture on both the internal market and in third countries. They offer a better targeted promotion according to the needs of European and global markets, an increased total amount of aid and a simplified administrative procedure.
On 21 November 2013 the Commission presented the legislative proposals for a more ambitious and better targeted information and promotion policy.
The aim is to develop and open up new markets for European agricultural products on the internal market and in the third countries, and to increase consumer awareness of their quality.
The legislative proposals are accompanied by an impact assessment that evaluates alternative scenarios for the evolution of the policy.
