Non-compliance

Operators who are found non-compliant with the requirements of the organic regulation will be banned by the control authority or body from marketing their products as organic.

If only one batch of products is affected, the control authority or body must ensure that no references, indications and logo referring to organic are used on any item in that batch.

Control authorities or bodies are required to share information without delay on non-compliance, both affecting EU organic products and imports. This enables irregularities to be  investigated and remedied promptly.

Such information is exchanged via the Organic Farming Information System (OFIS) – the IT tool operated by the European Commission.
