Multi-annual Implementation Plan of the EU Forest Strategy

On 3 September 2015 the Commission adopted the Multi-annual Implementation Plan of the EU Forest Strategy which provides a concrete list of actions in order to ensure a coherent, coordinated approach to the various policies and initiatives relating to the forest sector, with the particular involvement of stakeholders.

In line with the Council conclusions on the EU Forest Strategy supported by the European Parliament own-initiative report as well as by the Opinion of both the Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions, the Commission services in close cooperation with the Standing Forestry Committee (SFC), and in consultation with both the Civil Dialogue Group on Forestry & Cork and the Expert Group on Forest-based Industries, have prepared the Forest MAP.

The Forest Multi-Annual implementation Plan (Forest MAP) provides a concrete list of actions for the period 2015-2020, the actors and timing of the different activities as well as the expected outcomes. It is structured according to the eight priority areas of the EU Forest Strategy, providing actions and target dates for each area. It also adds a crosscutting element as the Strategy foresees a mid-term review in 2017-18. The plan includes a non-exclusive list of actions, as flexibility to take on-board new and emerging issues will be kept.
