"What's the role of the EU in sustainable water usage in
agriculture"?
Conference organised by the European Commission, DG
for Agriculture and Rural Development, within the Expo Zaragoza 2008
"Water and Sustainable development", 11 July 2008
This Conference organised within the context of the International
Exposition of Zaragoza 2008 dedicated to "Water and Sustainable
development" aimed at exchanging views and ideas for policy measures
to encourage a better use of water resources by agriculture. The
increasing trend in water demand and projected effects of climate
change on water resources have lead to greater concerns within the
EU about water scarcity and droughts and how to address the problems
these create. The sustainable use of water is a vital objective for
all.
The conference brought together EU, national, and regional policy
makers, representatives of farmers and environmental organisations,
researchers from the area of agriculture and water, and other
stakeholders involved in water management.
The conference was web-streamed, so everybody had the
opportunity to watch it live
on their computers. You can now
