The study has been worked out between August 1999 and September 2000 by NEI (Netherlands Economic Institute). The objective of this study was to examine the impacts of this market organisation under various aspects, in particular:

• impacts on the EC and the world sugar market in terms of volumes and prices
• impacts on the income of sugar beet producers
• impacts on the distribution of sugar beet production and processing between Member States.
